Buy-Sell-Hold?..."Whole Foods"

By Joel Albrizio, President, Adlife Marketing & Communications

"Whole Foods & Most Every Retailer & Wholesaler Have As Many Questions As Answers In Today's Buy-Sell Game"

Whole Foods is a great "Brand" at a time where it seems almost every retail entity (according to reliable rumors) is selling..wait buying...no now we think selling?

In the last week either through reliable sources we have heard...

  1. Amazon may buy Whole Foods, then Amazon may buy B.J.'S.
  2. Albertsons wanted to buy Price Chopper and or Whole Foods but now is kicking the tires with Sprouts.
  3. Marsh had financial issues and looked for a sale but may consider bankruptcy.
  4. Supervalu & C&S Wholesale Grocers...The rumors range from a merger to working together behind the scenes, to one or both failing, selling or being chopped up.
  5. Supervalu acquired Unified Grocers.

In Short This Is A Time Of Change...& Who Really Knows What's Up?

Way too many retailers, all becoming better at what they do, all with more service and deliverables in every category spell change. Consumers are looking to enhanced delivery options allowing Amazon an unimaginable percentage of earnings ratios. Amazon is conceivably the only real retail success story in retail circa 2017.

It's crazy to see so much volatility at a time when retailers just keep getting better at their craft. We have never seen an industry where so many great professionals want out. A number of months back at an food industry event we had a wholesale grocery sales manager tell us he had 250 customers and 200 wanted to sell.

It just seems there are too many retail options for the consumer. Couple so many shopping options with retail food gross profits at an all time low with greater demand for home delivery and you know a digital shake-up is upon us.

"Amazon Steps In With Cash-Technology-Consumer Confidence & Great Timing"

Guess what, Amazon can acquire anything they want or need. Amazon and its trusting customers will allow a digital version of retail food to become reality. The retail food customer will recognize the Amazon version of retailing as fact and buy in because its Amazon.

Proven success, customer confidence and the need for change will make Amazon the winner. In fact a big winner! So let's just wait and watch the retail food world turn in 2017.

Many have asked why I choose to write about what I see in the supermarket industry today and my ideas. At PreparedFoodPhotos.com & Adlife we believe great ideas and the resulting branding will give new life and direction to any company. So for that reason we chose to open the discussion.

Yes, I understand I probably misspelled something or butchered the English language is a few places, the goal however was to open your minds to new ideas.
